Day 4: Ugh

Today was a wash-out day, not warm and not sunny. Sheri found a place called "Kids Cottage" in Lewes that had an indoor play area that ended up being perfect for the kids to run around and have fun. Besides having the awesome indoor play area the place also is a preschool so there were times before school started that it the place was swarming with kids and then when school began it emptied out. Enjoy, we did!!
Katie on her way down the slide.
Maddux trying to go up the slide.
Playing with chimes.
Katie looking at the "fishies"!!!
Katie showing Maddux how to operate the gears.

She LOVED the slide!
Getting stuck in a playhouse window....yes she was really stuck.

Day 3: Back to the Ocean and more rain...

This morning we packed up and headed out to Cape Henlopen again, it really is the best beach and today the waves were much, much more calm. Unfortunately Katie wasn't too good for long, so after about 45 minutes we had to pack up and leave, she is fighting with her canine teeth and has a bit of diaper rash from the sand. Ugh. We came home and cleaned off, watched some cartoons and about half way through Katie's nap the heavens opened up on us and it poured buckets and buckets on us so our afternoon was spent inside playing. By about 4:30pm the rain had come to an end and we decided to head down to 2nd Ave. in Lewes to do some shopping and to grab a bite for dinner. We found a cute toy store that had all of the toys that I can never find at home, a pottery store that features local artisans and had such beautiful, and expensive, dinnerware and for dinner we ordered takeout from a little Mexican cafe and the food was out of this world. Right now I am currently babysitting for Sheri and Scott so they can have a night out, they are going to return the favor Friday night, and so far Maddux hasn't done more than flinch once in his sleep!! As a bonus for me their house also came with a wireless connection so I am sitting on the sofa enjoying my Internet!! Back to surfing......
Jumping the waves, her favorite.
Oh yeah, she will run right into the water without assistance. She's bold.
Reading her stories.
Katie thought it was funny to attack Nat when he was pretend sleeping, actually we all thought it was funny!
She would laugh so hard when Nat would pretend to wake up startled.
Running around after dinner, she would chase Nat, he would stop and she would run right into his bottom and fall down. Again, we all were laughing.

Day 2: Down to the Ocean

Today we went to Cape Henlopen State Park to play in the Atlantic Ocean, we are actually on the Delaware Bay?! The only difference between the two are the waves and to Katie, waves do make a difference! Once again she was clapping and dancing (above) when she saw the water. The water was a bit choppy today so I made Nat hold on to Katie the whole time we were there, luckily she doesn't mind holding hands with Daddy.
Katie getting in up to her knees with Daddy.
Jumping the waves!
Holding on, as you can see she's soaked, that's because she and Nat got clobbered by a wave.
This dumb seagull was stalking Katie's goldfish crackers, he was about 3 feet away from her for over 10 minutes!

Our First Beach Trip

We are currently on a long overdue and much anticipated first trip to the beach. Right now we are just waking up in our beach house in Lewes, Delaware and looking forward to another day either on Delaware Bay or in the Atlantic Ocean, we might just do both!! Anyhow here are a few pictures to enjoy, we have no internet in our beach house so we are currently stealing it from our neighbors, I'm going to try and put pictures on the blog when the theiving is good.
Katie clapping at the ocean the first time she saw it!
Her first touch of salt water.Filling her bucket.
Enjoying the beach.
Yep, she loves it!

Go LIONS!!!

We just returned from Katie's 1st high school football game and let me tell you, she LOVED it!! I think it was the band and the cheerleaders that she loved the most but if my cousin Allison asks you it was her son, my cousin, Steven that she was watching the whole time!! We only stayed through about half of the second quarter but we will be going back as much as possible to see #32 in his senior year......and to cheer with the cheerleaders!
I had a shirt made for Katie, the front has Steven's number #32 and the back, well, you can see what the back says. I think it's cool and so did my whole family, all 12 of us that were there.......we can turn into a mob some nights!
That's our boy, #32, he's a defensive end and for the little bit I was there tonight he was playing great!

Happy 1st Birthday Chase!!

Today is Chase's 1st birthday so we had a small, but fun, get together here at our house. Unfortunatly since we are leaving for the beach tomorrow, and taking our next door neighbors along, we are going to miss the big 1st Birthday Bash that Chase's Mom and Dad are throwing for him on Sunday. (I'm really ticked that we're missing this one, they're getting a Moon Bounce!!!) Anyhow, we had some pizza and cupcakes and watched our little ones run around and play, oh and opened some gifts which I think Maddux and Katie thought were for them, although very few tears were shed when it was time to give them to their rightful owner. I can't believe it's been a year.......when did time start speeding up?

The birthday boy!!

Katie eating some pizza and wearing it.

Yep, that's my daughter feeding Maddux a cheddar bunny.....I think Sheri and I almost fainted when we saw this one, she wasn't stealing but sharing!!! (Proud Moment!!)
Chase digging into his birthday cupcake.
Sheri and Chase passing smiles.
Maddux destroying his cupcake, we all took more pictures of this kid eating one cupcake than anything else.
Nice form.

My dainty cupcake eater, she had virtually no mess.
Chase playing with some of his new toys!!
The boys.
The three musketeers, well their backsides.

That's my boy, well not really mine, not afraid to go out riding horses in a tutu.

New Camera.

So I got a new camera today, my old camera has seen us through alot of stages in our life but the old girl was losing shutter speed so we had to let her go. Here are some pictures from the new camera, you probably can't tell a big difference but my indoor shots have much richer coloring to them, at least that was what I noticed right away. Ok that's all from today....
My old camera quickly became a toy.
Sucking her thumb with her aqua socks on.....don't ask.
I need to work on the exposure a bit, she's a little on the pale side here.
Nat and Katie eating some mellon.

Another Long and Fun Day....

Today we had an unexpected fun day thanks to Nat's Aunt Fran and Uncle Doug. We got up this morning with little to no plans, Nat was going to play 9 holes and I wanted to get paint for the bedroom. We ran over to my parents early on in the morning and Mom played with Katie while we ran to get the paint, which let me tell you is a huge help considering Sherwin-Williams has the doors that open and close when you step on the mat.....Katie LOVED that game the last time we went! We came home and played a bit, put Katie down for a nap and then got a call from Nat's parents that they were heading up to Mary's sister Fran's house for an afternoon swim. Well, of course you know I had to take my little fish and besides having a pool they also have a trampoline, which you will see below Katie was very fond of!! We had a great afternoon, Katie loves her cousins and had fun swimming with Grandma and Grandpa.... Hope everyone had a wonderful 3-day weekend!!!
Katie catching some air with her cousin Natalie.
Static hair, again.
Natalie catching Katie as she tried to run away, it was a game they invented.
Nice!
Giving me a good cheese. Katie would come over to where I was taking pictures through the opening in the tent and say, "Mommy bye-bye" and try to zip it up. I guess she really didn't want me to disturb her fun!

I had to grab the camera for one last picture today of Katie eating corn on the cob by herself, she really likes doing things all by herself now!
