Happy 4th of July Everybody!!!
Today was our 2nd annual Royal Oaks 4th of July parade. My neighbor Kristin and I started this parade last year with just some fliers and firetruck and this year we added a little more, hum... flare?! Kristin had a great idea to call the York Suburban Middle School to see if some of their flute players and drummers would be interested in forming a Fife and Drum core especially for us, and they said yes!! (Life lesson: always ask because you might get what you want!) She also called an ice cream truck to come over after the parade and sell ice cream, and that was another huge hit! It makes us so happy to see the kids having fun, enjoying the weather and in all of their red, white and blue..........well, you'll see, it's awesome!!
These two cuties are Libby and Lainey, my friend Christina's daughters. Christina was playing in a golf tournament this morning so I told her mom to bring the kids over to enjoy in the festivities! The more the merrier!
Christina's son Ben and Katie, sharing a ride.
Getting lined up for the start of the parade.
The big kids on bikes.
These are two of the three kids of another high school classmate of ours, Christine Kays. Her parents live in our neighborhood and so they came along to play.....I think their names are Andrew and Mary Beth.
Ben decided he was going to pull Katie, he's a tough guy!
What a cute kid!
RJ, Jason and Evy ready to get the parade going.
And their off, you can see the two drummers, two flutists and the little kid carrying the flag...all middle school kids helping out our parade!
This isn't the best picture, but I wanted everyone to see Nat holding Ben's hand, who is pulling the wagon..........so adorable!
This is Tyler, he and Maddux are good buddies!
Maddux wasn't too into sitting in his wagon for the parade, but he enjoyed watching it!
The firetruck, followed by the bikers.......
The Fife and Drum core, followed by the walkers and stroller and wagon pullers.
Ben tired out, poor guy, but he and Katie both had enough energy to wave to the camera!
Christine and her mother pulling the kids back up the hill, that hill is a heck of a way to end the parade!
Katie on the fire truck.
Katie and Maddux sharing a laugh on the truck.
Fire man Ben to the rescue!
Jack Doran taking a turn at driving, his dad Mark graduated from high school the year before Nat and I.
Grandpa Burt taking a look around, while Callie has a drink and Katie runs away to play.
Sophie and Evy, best buddies.
The girls and their balloons!
My Independent Girl!
Ben pretending to be a patient, he even let the EMT's take his blood pressure.
More of the twins, I couldn't help myself, I took a ton of them!
Daddy and Katie.
Happy girl.
Maddux enjoying a snack.
