Katie's Ballet Recital

Last night was the culmination of 16 weeks worth of ballet classes at the Jewish Community Center here in York. As fate would have it the previous night Katie was up at 3am vomiting and up until 3:45pm I really didn't know what we were going to end up doing. Luckily, for all of us, she rallied hard and made it to her recital on time and in high spirits!
Katie and her class on stage, dancing to "Don't Fence Me In". (Katie is third from the right)
All of the dancers got to introduce themselves after the show, how cute!
Flowers from Grammy and Pop.
At rehearsal with her BFF Mya!
Abby, Katie and Mya......how cute!
Dancing at the dress rehearsal.
So cute, and funny!

Class picture, yes Katie's hat is on backwards!
This was just a cute picture I took last week. Katie was upstairs playing and I was downstairs cleaning when all of a sudden I realized it was too quiet. I went upstairs and found that she had crawled into our bed and fallen asleep. Too cute!

Whew....

The past two days have been busy! Yesterday Katie and I went back down to the Baltimore Aquarium, or the fish tank as she calls it. We hadn't been down in over a month, and with the craziness of the week, we decided it was time for another visit!
In the rain forest exhibit.
Touching the saw from a sawtooth shark.
Posing in front of a big window overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.
At the dolphin show, still her favorite!
"Mommy, look at that huge, huge sting ray!"
Outside, after leaving the aquarium, enjoying a sunny day by the bay.
Happy.
When we came home from the aquarium we were under a thunderstorm warning and man did we ever get a storm! Hail, flooding water and mud everywhere; perfect for a three year old with Hello Kitty boots!
Stomping in puddles.
This is just the water on our COVERED front porch.
This afternoon we went over to Aunt Angie and Uncle Harvey's house to celebrate cousin Nik's graduation from York College. Of course, me being me, I have no actual picture of Nik (sorry) but I do have pictures of Katie at rest, above, and at play!!
Katie bouncing with her cousins, Alex, Samantha and Natalie.
Down she goes.
Enjoying the little pond Uncle Harvey put in the yard.
She loved the little water lilies.
Bouncing.
And down she goes.

Sorry Jarrett, but I had to add this picture! It just looks like he was pooping a strawberry and Christy and I couldn't stop laughing.
Whew, it's only Saturday night and we are exhausted!

Riding Along...

It's been a rough few days here at the Burt household. Monday night Katie awoke from sleep, after being asleep for about an hour, having major breathing issues. I got her out of bed, took her outside and called her pediatrician. For about 20 minutes I tried, in vain, to get her to calm down and breath and after talking with the on-call nurse I put her in the car and took off for the hospital. Upon arriving she was assessed and once she calmed down just a bit, the tell-tale bark of croup became apparent. We sat in that ER for about 5 hours, Nat was away for work so Grammy and Pop kept us entertained, until she took some steroids and was deemed well enough to go home.

Tuesday, Nat came home from work very early to assist us, lack of sleep wasn't doing us any good and today we are doing even better. Katie now has the junky cough that always follows croup but her spirits are up and tonight, before dinner, all she wanted to do was go outside with Daddy and ride her bike. She's getting really good at being on her own with the bike, although going up hill still is frustrating. She still has a lot of fun though!
Getting started.
Making a grumpy face because I was trying to take her picture.
Laughing at me as I tripped in the street.

Crossing the street, with a little help.
Cute.
Taking a break.
Getting tired.

So Many Milestones!

Last weekend my Mom and I took Katie to Dreamwright's Theater here in York for a program they have called "Breakfast and Playlet". Every few months they invite the 3-6 year olds to come for breakfast, a craft and then we go into the theater to watch two acts of the actual play. Right now they are performing "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" so we got to see the part where Dorothy meets the munchkins and the part where they decide to go to Oz. After they do the scenes they invite the kids on stage to learn how to bow for the audience and then they do a little parade around the stage, the whole breakfast and playlet lasts about an hour and a half and was absolutely wonderful. What a great way to introduce kids to the theater!

After the play we went over to Brown's Farm Market in Emigsville to have some fun at their "Spring Fling". As you will see Katie and Tripp both had a great time!

The kids exploring a firetruck, Katie just wanted to sit in all of the different seats!

Cute!

Grammy helping Katie get ready for another first, riding a horse!
Her horse's name was Captain Bill and as she will tell you he doesn't like cows too much and there was a pasture just at the end of the little riding area. As soon as her horse saw the cows he started kicking a little, she recovered just fine and was able to continue her adventure.

Tripp's turn, he LOVED it!
