The Wedding

These two are the reason that we made the trip to Chicago; The new Mr. and Mrs. Cohen! It was a beautiful wedding, the Rabbi was hilarious and the band was slammin'. As a bonus we got to meet some really great people and get a little vacation out of it!

That's Nat on the end of the stage, my little Jewish husband!! There were 9 groomsmen and 7 bridesmaids; Nat said at one point he was afraid that the stage wouldn't hold everyone.

Lincoln Park Zoo

Sunday before the wedding we trekked back into the city for a trip to the Lincolin Park Zoo. It turned out to be a great zoo day, the sun was out and it was cool but not cold, but it was pretty empty inside the gates. Katie enjoyed the Chimps, the farm animals and the big cats, the lions and tigers. I just enjoyed being outsite where you couldn't smell all of the animal poop!!!

Field Museum

Saturday we spent time at the Field Museum in Chicago. I really wanted to go just to see "Sue" the dinosaur so once I saw her we did kids stuff. They had a childrens section where Katie could run around, try on some costumes, play music and just be loud; it was mostly for little ones 2 and up but Katie did get in to some of the fun.

And We're Off......

Three things to report today. First Katie is walking, not all of the time, but she's trying. She still understands that crawling is way faster, so if the cat is around she is back to all fours, but other than that she's slowing putting one foot in front of the other and off she goes! (You can see in the video that she is still a bit shaky, when she's holding thing she does that?)

Second exciting thing, we are off to Chicago this evening for Dan and Courtney's wedding. My Mom and Dad are coming along to watch Katie while we cut a rug, plus they love Chi-town so it wasn't a hard sell. Keep your fingers crossed that we have a happy little flyer! No doubt there will be a long blog with tons of pictures Tuesday........

Lastly and most exciting, my friend Christina "Tilly" had her twins on Monday!! Elizabeth Helen Sheets was first at 6 lbs. 10 oz. and Alaina Diane Sheets came in a close second at 5 lbs. 10 oz. Both Libby and Lainey are doing well, they are both having some breathing issues since they were born 4 weeks early, but nothing serious. I will post pictures of them as soon as I get some, but I hear they look like their big brother Ben!! Congrats Tilly and Dave, welcome to your own personal "Party of Five"!

Drooling Baby...

As you can see Kate is an overproducer of drool, I'm hoping it's the teeth. This drooling episode was the result of chasing the cat across the kitchen for 20 minutes with no bib. (She is usually bibbed all day long!)

Today we were at my parents house for a goodbye party for Sarah and Tim, they are moving to North Carolina on Tuesday. Of course we are going to miss them tons but I'm sure they are going to have so much fun and they are only a short flight away!

GOOD LUCK AUNT SARAH AND UNCLE TIM!!

Fun on the farm..

Today Nat, Katie, Grandma and Grandpa Burt and I went to a fall festival in north York; it was a fundraiser for the preservation of farm land in York County. It was a nice time, a little bit windy, but the sun was out and it wasn't muddy so the wind was bearable. The highlight of the trip was a hayride through the corn fields with a stop for the kids to find hidden pumpkins in the dried corn stalks. Of course Katie found a pumpkin right away, she did have 4 adults helping her, but that's just playing smart, not cheating (in case you were wondering)! We only stayed for about an hour and then it was time to come home and take a nap and get out of the wind. Next year I think she will enjoy the hayride and the animals a bit more, but she always enjoys Grandma and Grandpa so a day with them is never wasted! I hope everyone else is having a fun fall!!!

When Katie Met Lauren

Well Amy, Matt and Lauren flew back to Charlotte today but before they left we had to make sure that the girls had some play time together. Of course they are on opposite sleep schedules so when we caught up with Lauren she was just waking up from a shortened nap that I'm sure Katie's screaming caused. The played nicely together and Matt even took the girls on a wagon ride which went well for the first 10 minutes and ended in a tandem crying match. (check out the 10 second video below) They were both fine, just a bit hungry!!

Karen's Baby Shower

Today was Karen's baby shower and it was so much fun!! I took a ton of pictures but unfortunately most of them stink. Oh well, I have memories!! There were 4 pregnant women at the shower, Karen, Tammi, Michelle and Amy (she just found out!!); Heather brought 6 week old Chase, I had Katie (11 months old), Amy had Lauren (1 year old)and Michelle had Makenzie(2 years old). It was loud, mostly Katie and her love of screaming, and there was a lot of belly bumping going on. I love that everyone is having babies, it's so much fun, plus there is always so much to talk about and so many opportunities to play with and hold little ones. Enjoy the few pictures that did turn out nicely!!

11 Months Old!!

It's so crazy how fast time really does fly by; I can't believe that I'm planning a 1st Birthday party already! Yesterday Katie was 11 months old and to celebrate she learned how to open my kitchen cabinets , hooray! We are on the verge of stage 2 baby proofing, kitchen cabinet locks and door handle locks because she is not only figuring out how to open things she is also starting to walk. For about a week now she has been taking a step or two a day but now she is taking it up a notch with 4 or 5 steps at a time, she took 7 steps at about 3:30pm. From what everyone keeps telling me I'm assuming in a week or two I will have a full fledged walker on my hands! We are also still working on the sippy cup, she is supposed to be using it all of the time now but all she wants to do is chew on the nipple/spout thing. Who knows. She also still can't clap or wave goodbye but I was thinking about it today and I don't think we have been showing her how to do it that much, so I guess that's our fault. She can however "moo" like a cow, say "hi" and when she sees the cat she says "gitty". (we're getting closer on that one) Katie is still a happy baby and other than the aforementioned things, she is developing skills right on schedule, you would never guess she was a preemie. Ok well gotta go chase a baby!!!

It's a messy world....

Ok so the girl comes by the love of pasta honestly, she is Italian after all!! I guess you could say that she gets the love of pasta from her Dad's side and the messiness from my side; look at this girl, it's a disaster area!! Oh and this is just lunch, so outfit two for the day, three if you count the pajamas she wore to bed..

(She was ticked off that I put a carrot in her mouth, why won't she eat and veggies!!!)
