A Day At The Zoo

Today Katie, Nat, Grandma and Grandpa Burt and I went to Zoo America in Hershey. They were celebrating "Community Days", whatever that is, so admission was free at different tourist attractions in Hershey. The zoo was pretty packed and it was cloudy and 37 degrees outside so most outdoor animals were not very frisky or friendly. There were two bison out strutting around in a field so I lifted Katie up to see them, of course she didn't care about the huge, one ton animals, she saw some ducks playing in the creek below and shouted "Duckies" as loudly as she could. It was really cute.

They did have some indoor exhibits and the picture above is of Grandpa Burt trying to point out a jack rabbit to Katie. The one jack rabbit in the back was having some lunch when I walked over to the exhibit so I got to watch as it flung a dead mouse against the ground over and over while still holding on to it in his jaw. Exciting!!

We stayed at the zoo for about 45 minutes and then drove across the street to Chocolate World; do you like the picture of me and Kate in front of the wall of Reece's Pieces?! We didn't stay there too long, Katie decided she was done with her adventure, so we packed her back into the car and came home. While writing this I'm watching Katie's monitor as she sleeps soundly in her crib and Nat sleeping just as sound in the recliner, I guess the cold weather will do that to you!!

Oh and the other picture is of Katie with "Phil" the groundhog that her Grandparents got for her at the zoo, after all it is Groundhog Day and she needed something!!! (Can you tell she's the only Grandchild?!) It was a short, but fun outting; next time we hit the zoo I'll make sure the sun is out!!

Happy Groundhog Day!!
