Bachelorette Party!!!

(Emily helped a Birthday cake become a Bachelorette Party cake, nice huh?)

Yesterday I was in Philly for my sister-in-law's bachelorette party, well most of it, I really just can't hang with the "kids" anymore!! There were six of us for lunch Gullifty's in Bryn Mawr, which was really nice and since it was St. Patty's day the place was filled with college kids doing a pub crawl. (I felt really old!) It was nice catching up with Christy's friends, seeing what they were up to and hearing all about life from a 26 year-olds perspective.

After lunch we headed back to Christy's apartment for a surprise lingere party, don't worry I didn't post any of "those" pictures. It was fun and funny and Christy's friend Emily who put the whole thing together did a really great job.

I took off from Christy's apartment at 7:30pm as they were starting to get ready for a night out, like I said I can't hang, I was exhaused at 7:30pm! I know more of her girlfriends were meeting up with them for the night out and Christy's friend Mandy, who couldn't make it, made sure that Christy had a "nice" outfit for the night out including St. Patty's feather boa's for the whole crew. I can't wait to hear how the rest of the night went, but at 11:15am she still wasn't answering her phone so I'm assuming it went really well!!

(A nice Bride tank from Victoria's Secret.)

( I guess we aren't going to talk about what this gift was, but I think it was from Emily!!)

(Part of the evening outfit that Mandy made, doesn't Christy look excited to wear it!)

Oh that hair....

This isn't going to be long, I just wanted to point out the curly hair that's sprouting on Katie's head. Last night she was at Grandma and Grandpa Burt's house almost until bedtime so she didn't get to take a bath until this morning and look at those curls!! Normally when she takes an evening bath she wakes up with crazy half-curls and funky waves and I'm at a loss for what to do with it, that's why it's up in a pony tail all of the time, but not today. It's so pretty that I had to take pictures of it; is it wrong to be jealous of your child?!

Birthday Part 2!

I got to celebrate my birthday, again, this past weekend in "The Sweetest Place on Earth", Hershey!! Nat took me to the Hershey Hotel for a day at the spa, followed by dinner in the Circular Dining Room and then an overnight stay at the hotel.

The spa was wonderful, of course I've really never had a bad time at a spa. I had a 50 minute massage, followed by a relaxing snack by the fireplace in the Quiet room. I just sat in a big leather chair for about 30 minutes reading a magazine in complete silence, it was beyond awesome...

Nat and I then returned to our room to get ready for dinner only to find out that we had no hot water in our room and my parents, who were taking care of Katie, had lost electricity at their house! Luckily the maintenance man was up to our room to fix the plumbing within 10 minutes and Heather and Brandon, our friends across the street, were home to let my parents into our house for the night.

Small crisis averted!

Dinner was lovely, I had Organic Chicken breast with spinach and butternut squash and Nat had BBQ Buffalo Ribs. Obviously the dinner was secondary to the dessert so I made sure not to fill up on the main course, although they did have chocolate bread which was a monkey wrench that I wasn't planning on. (Nat kept yelling at me not to fill up on the bread!!) For dessert I had peanut butter pie, which wasn't a mousse like I have had before, it was thick and almost fudge like and has probably partially clogged an artery. Nat has a chocolate mousse pie, which looked good too, but since I didn't want to share I told him he didn't have to either. (I'm not big on sharing chocolate!!)

Oh and before dinner they presented me with the happy birthday chocolate covered strawberries in the picture below, yum................

It was a nice relaxing break, but as always I was glad to come home to my crazy baby!

On Thursday....

Check out that mop top!!! I know I should really get her hair cut but I'm just afraid that some crazy barber will cut too much off and then I won't be able to put it up into a barette. Am I crazy; she can't even see?!

See how cute it looks up, this is why I refuse to cut her hair!!

I just wanted to show you Katie's new way of remembering her favorite books, she gnaws on the corner, sort of like a toddler book mark. She's done this to about ten books, this one is "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly", I think she likes the art work.

Aunt Anna on the Today Show

Nat's Great-Aunt Anna, his Grandma's sister, was chosen for an Ambush Makeover on the Today Show!! Her six children had taken her to New York City for her birthday, she lives in Orlando, and on Friday, leap day and her 19th birthday, she was chosen out of the crowd for a makeover.........HOW COOL!!! Way to go Aunt-Anna!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!!

Woo-hoo it's my birthday!!! The big 3-2. I love birthdays, I really don't know why, but every year I get really excited for mine. Getting older doesn't bother me, in fact I look forward to the next year, the challenges, ups and downs and changes in my everyday life. Do I feel older? Sure, I have been plucking a few more gray hairs and I have some wrinkles around my eyes that are getting more defined, but in the grand scheme of things, that ain't too bad!

31 was a pretty great year so I can't wait to see what 32 has to offer; a big lottery win would be nice, heck a small lottery win wouldn't be bad either?! Today we had a little party here with the family, cake, ice cream and cookies topped with some snacking, no sissy food for us. I got some great gifts too like a 4-slot toaster and a label maker, and yes I really, really wanted those two things. It's funny how not too long ago I couldn't wait for birthday money and new clothing and now I just want the ability to have warm toast with my daughter for breakfast. Cha-cha-cha-cha-changes...

Well I guess my blood sugar is crashing because I just got a case of the tireds, I guess that means it's time for some more cake!! Only one day a year can you justify eating cake as a meal and today is my lucky day!!! And just in case you were wondering that is a chocolate peanut butter cake, I think there is a special place in heaven for the person that came up with that combination.

Happy my birthday to you all!!!

Howdy!!!!

Good Thursday afternoon!!

It's cold today, 29 degrees when we went to the grocery store at 1pm. Nothing is too exciting around here I just wanted to pass along the pictures of Katie wearing her petal headband, she actually kept it on for over an hour before she ripped it off of her head and threw it under the sofa. She's developing quite a temper, but that's for another day......Here's to hoping that Spring is just around the corner!!!

(This is the disgruntled flower; doesn't she look like she's about to attack me!!!)

Grayson

Here is Grayson, cute little guy, huh?! He basically slept the whole time I visited with him, although I did see him open his eyes once or twice. Mom and baby both seemed to be doing well and it looks like they will be coming home from the hospital tomorrow.

A new friend....

This is the end of the night for us, no shirt, no shoes, and the thumb in the mouth. What a day!!
The big news of the day was that Michelle, Makenzie's mom, had her baby!!!
Grayson Phillip was born at 3:01pm and weighed in at 8 lbs. 5 oz. and measured 19.5 inches long. He has dark brown hair, unlike blondie Makenzie, and had already eaten his first meal as of 4:30pm. I will have more information and pictures tomorrow after my visit to meet the little guy. I can't wait!! Well I hope everybody had a great weekend, enjoy the Oscars!!

Yucky Weather.

I wish I had some action shots of us playing in the snow to show everybody but we are having yet another one of those winter storms that is going to amount to nothing in the end, it fizzled before it got a chance to really get going. Nat stayed home from work today in anticipation of this "storm" so having an extra set of hands around has been kind of nice, especially with a teething, moody and sometimes nutty toddler. I wish we could go outside and play in the inch or two of snow that we have but it turned to freezing rain right before the whole system petered out and I'm afraid of Kate taking a nose dive on the concrete. (I might go give the sidewalks a test run during her nap?!)

Well it's almost nap time here, Nat is already half asleep on the sofa and Katie is running around with one of my Crocs in each hand and throwing them on the carpet runner in the hallway. (We aren't doing any better with the throwing.) Snow days are always more fun for the kids! If the snow is good for some play time you might be seeing new pictures later in the day, if not have a good weekend!!

Ugh......

Still drooling a lot here, new teeth are still popping out, in fact one bottom tooth was a newbie today! It's been pretty miserable here, those dumb teeth are bugging her so badly that she has been taking only one nap a day for about an hour, at no set time, so I'm afraid to leave the house or make plans. It's crazy!!!

Oh and we are still working on not throwing things in the house; it's still going well!!!
